About TaggedRight

We are a small, women-owned firm in Texas that does one thing: make the documents on government websites readable by everyone, and prove it.

Why we started

Cities, counties, and school districts post thousands of documents a year. Almost none of them are built for a screen reader. When the Department of Justice set a deadline for that to change, most clerks and communications staff found themselves responsible for a job nobody had trained them to do.

TaggedRight exists to take that job off your desk. We do not sell website software, overlays, or training courses. We fix documents, one by one, and we send them back with proof.

How we work

Every document is remediated to the PDF/UA-1 standard (ISO 14289-1), the international standard for accessible PDF. Meeting PDF/UA-1 is the most reliable way to satisfy the WCAG 2.1 AA requirements the ADA rule points to.

Every file is then validated with veraPDF, an open-source validator built by the PDF Association and used by archives and governments worldwide. If a file fails, it does not ship. The validation report for the original and the fixed file comes back to you with the document.

What we promise

  • Plain answers. We will tell you which documents need work, which can simply be removed, and what it will cost, before you commit.
  • Nothing shipped unvalidated. If veraPDF says a file fails, you will not receive it until it passes.
  • Your documents stay yours. We do not keep copies after the work is done and we never share them.
  • No lock-in. No software to license and no long contracts. If you stop needing us, you stop.
